FAQ
-
What are the pedestals used for?Pedestals are adjustable plastic flooring pedestals designed for outdoor use. Perfect for creating level and ventilated decking or tiled terraces. They support both level laying and slope correction for durable outdoor floors
-
What are the heavy duty pedestals load capacity? Each pedestal supports at least 900 kg, and most models can bear up to 1,000 kg, making them suitable for heavy-duty outdoor applications.
-
How are they adjusted? The pedestal uses a threaded “head” and “base” design, allowing precise height adjustments. No extra pieces are required up to 181 mm elevation. Beyond that, extension components securely increase the height
-
What materials do they use?Made from weather-resistant polypropylene plastic and supplemented with accessories like stainless steel or galvanized fixings. Ideal for outdoor environments
-
Are installations reversible?Yes. Pedestals are fully adjustable and removable. Ideal for installations needing access to concealed cables or pipes underneath the flooring
-
How durable are they?Extremely durable. Designed for long-term performance and heavy load conditions, including commercial settings
-
What height do these insulation spacers (Loft Risers) provide? Each riser raises loft boards by a full 175 mm, offering maximum headroom and efficiency in insulation support.
-
Are these suitable for creating a storage loft floor?Absolutely! They support up to 25 kg per square metre, making them ideal for loft storage. However, please note they are not suitable for habitable rooms.
-
What are Loft Risers used for?Loft Risers are plastic supports designed to raise loft boards above the insulation layer. This prevents insulation compression, helping to maintain thermal efficiency while creating a strong and level storage floor in your attic.
-
Are Loft Risers suitable for walking or storing items on top?Yes. When installed correctly, they can support a distributed load of up to 25 kg/m², which is ideal for light to medium loft storage. They are not designed for use in habitable rooms or as structural flooring.
-
What material are they made from? Our Loft Risers are made of durable, high-quality plastic engineered to handle attic conditions, including temperature changes and load stress.
-
How do I install them?Simply screw each riser into your ceiling joists, place timber battens across the top, and then fix your loft boards. It’s a quick, DIY-friendly process that doesn’t require specialist tools.
-
How many risers do I need?It depends on the size of your loft and how you plan to board it. As a general guide, you’ll need approximately 12 risers per 1.2m x 2.4m (8ft x 4ft) board, depending on joist spacing.
-
Can I use Loft Risers outdoors or under decking? No. Loft Risers are designed specifically for indoor, loft-floor use. For outdoor decking or patios, please see our Pedestal product range, which is made for external environments.
-
Are they compatible with standard timber sizes?Yes, they’re designed to work with common timber dimensions used in loft boarding systems across the UK.
